Once and then a couple more time
Once and then a couple more time
I looked for a four leaf clover
One minute too long;
Now my father; he thinks I'm
Gone for good
"Hands are meant to build &
Eyes to envision — pathetic.”
My teacher thinks I'm set to find
A new species but
"Read some botany books too.”
The passerby's wonder if I'm about to
Retch, hunched over on the sidewalk.
A friend, he says,
"Lift your head, you've
Nothing to be ashamed of.”
And a couple more say
A couple more things.
& I know
They're all right.
They're all wrong.
Hunched, head down, beady eyed
I'll look for the 4 leaf clover
All my life. Then, I'll crush it
Once I find.
Yesterday, I saw two
In my dream,
These hands have made me noone,
I'm nearly a hunchback —
But oh was I happy,
I was so happy.
— In the morning.
